Carbon materials are mainly activated carbon desulphurization, containing carbon materials to preparation, shells, sawdust and other raw materials due to the soft, is advantageous to the activator to enter, so the reaction performance is good, of large specific surface area activated carbon, developed micropore volume, adsorption performance is good. But the cost of such materials is high and resources are limited, so people are turning their attention to rich, cheap coal. But due to the formation of coal is affected by many factors, composition, properties are different in different parts of the coal, therefore made of activated carbon pore structure and adsorption performance each are not identical, the metamorphic degree of coal is lower, the higher the content of volatile, made of activated carbon desulfurization effect is better. For coal, anthracite coal metamorphic degree and graphitization degree is the highest, bituminous coal, coal metamorphic degree and the degree of graphitization, so most researchers in recent years in lignite and bituminous coal as raw materials via pyrolysis activation to the preparation of activated carbon. The new water industry researchers have found that two different kinds of coal with different performance can guarantee the performance of each activated carbon and make up for their adsorption performance. In addition, the technology of making activated carbon from waste materials has also been widely concerned, such as various food waste residue, agricultural and sideline product waste, activated sludge, waste tires and so on.
